Statement of Faith.
“We believe in one God, the Father, who is maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made.
For humanity and our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was beaten, tortured and crucified; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets in the Bible and continues to speak to and through humanity today.
We believe that the bride of Christ, known as the church is diverse in nature, and made of smaller local churches. We believe that the local church should resemble the first church established by the apostles. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins, one baptism of water as a sacrament, and one baptism of the Holy Spirit.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.”
Amen
Our Story
“Mosaic: A piece of art, organization, or body consisting of various diverse pieces to make the whole.”
Mosaics in art are synonymous with beauty, yet they are fundamentally imperfect based on the vast diversity of each individual piece. No two pieces of broken tile or glass are alike, just as no two individuals are alike, yet the culmination of the pieces is what makes the whole so beautiful. This is the underlying concept that embodies Mosaic Chapel and our diverse congregation.
We believe that humanity is imperfect, yet we know that God is perfect. When we as a diverse people come together into a community to worship, we are enlightened by the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the power of God to bring change into our lives.
Our logo represents these conceptual elements and builds on the biblical significance of the number 12, which is exact number of pieces that make up our circular mark. The number 12 is significant in the Bible as it represents wholeness and is symbolic of God and his perfection. Jesus had 12 disciples, there were 12 tribes of Israel and God specified that there should be 12 loaves unleavened bread kept in the temple, to be replenished every sabbath. The culmination of 12 unique, imperfect pieces building into a beautiful whole, empowered by God, defines who we are.
This is our church. This is Mosaic Chapel.
